Whale in the Thames

As we reflect on the state of the world in these troubled times, I have to say I am so grateful for music, for my family, for wonderful friends and the incredible music community of the Twin Cities. We have a special place here and I am so happy to call it home. When my dad suffered his massive stroke in 2012, we were blown away by the incredible response from all those who know and love him – as a musician and as a great guy. We could feel the love from every corner of the world. For me, feeling that love and playing music and writing songs with my band Whale in the Thames has helped me cope with everything.

I wrote this song about the outpouring of love and the incredible support my family received on the heels of the stroke – validating a life he didn’t realize was so appreciated. Thanks to all those who have brought love home to him. Our whole family appreciates it so much, and it is still keeping him going today.
